From this week, NutrixBloom is working with Dragon Dining, Yokohama International School's dining hall, to become a sustainable International Educational Nutrition & Health Organization. Although we donate kimbaps to the homeless and local sports team weekly, we realized that we can make a greater impact by preventing food waste directly in our local community, starting with our school.
We are transforming what would have been thrown away into warmth, dignity, and brief moments of comfort for those who are most in need by gathering the uneaten food at YIS. What began as a useful concept has evolved into a lesson in compassion, with students discovering that one decision, saving a tray, sharing an extra roll, can have an exponential impact on others, and neighbors receiving not only food but also the silent signal that someone took notice and cared.
We’re deeply grateful to Dragon Dining for partnering with us and believing that food is a resource, not rubbish. Together, Sukui no Te, Dragon Dining, YTI, and NutrixBloom can make our local community a system that reduces waste, and feeds people, one kimbap and one warm meal at a time.
We were able to donate 34 nutritious and delicious kimbaps and meals to the homeless community in Kannai this week. We are very grateful to the leaders and members of Sukui no Te for their contributions to our ongoing initiative for those in need. Thank you so much, and we will see you again in two weeks!
